Children are a Blessing
Contraception Harms
Children are a blessing. Contraception harms not only the body, but the health of marital relationships, the family, the Church, and society generally.
These basic truths were once widely recognized, but have been lost. Yet, today, they are being rediscovered. Through education, witness and networking, One More Soul seeks to advance a world where children are welcomed, and, because they are welcomed, contraception is no longer pursued.
Since 1992, One More Soul has shared this message of hope in an environment often closed to contrary views. When Dr. Chris Kahlenborn published his groundbreaking meta-analysis on the relationship between oral contraceptives and breast cancer in the Mayo Clinic Proceedings, the national media showed no interest. In those times qualified medical experts who challenged the prevailing consensus were not welcome.
Today, however, people are more than ever looking for ancient answers when the recent ideas that were once relied on are failing to deliver on their promises. In a time when young people are ever more looking for truth and are turning to faith, One More Soul seeks to present the truths of the blessings of children and the harmfulness of contraception in new media.
For decades One More Soul has been the source for thoughtful in-depth analyses and reflections on the dangers of contraception, as well as a reliable reseller of theological works like Dr. Janet E. Smith’s accurate translation of Pope St. Paul VI’s encyclical Humanae vitae.
These resources are critical for academics, bishops and pastors of souls who are leading and forming the young. Diocesan family life offices rely on our informative pamphlets like Dr. Kahlenborn’s “What a Woman Should Know about Birth Control,” to present the health hazards of contraceptive methods in a factual and approachable manner. We will continue to make our own publications available and to direct readers to the excellent works of other publishers.
Yet young people immersed in the ferment of today’s culture are less likely to turn to treatises or works of theology. One More Soul built its reputation as a producer and distributor of engaging and life-changing talks on tape, CD and DVD, such as Dr. Janet E. Smith’s “Contraception: Why Not?”.
With the passing of these media we are shifting our efforts to new media.
Here I will be sharing transcripts of my Fivefold Fathers project to interview fifty-five fathers of five or more children. Also look for articles on chastity, self-mastery, contraception and other family matters by a Wisconsin priest. I look forward to engaging with the wider community of supporters of the goodness of children, and encourage your comments.
